We have redacted some information for privacy, but the Woodland Watch still gives a detailed view of New Development, Real Estate, Crime, and Nuisance in the Woodland Heights Neighborhood.

How Often Does The WW Update?

Why is the Woodland Watch Necessary?

The plan is to update the Woodland Watch monthly. Sometime within the first week of every month we plan on publishing a new version. What you see here will always be a snapshot of the previous month.

Why is the Woodland Watch Necessary?

Why is the Woodland Watch Necessary?

Why is the Woodland Watch Necessary?

We started our data driven approach to crime and nuisance 'watch' over a year ago. Members of our neighborhood association have quietly been using data to identify problems, and we continue to learn more. We believe that we can only steer our neighborhood forward by having a comprehensive view of what is actually occurring in the neighborhood at any given time. The Woodland Watch is a "Rethought Watch". We don't just focus on crime. We're interested in the bigger picture. We're interested in solving the internal problems that contribute to blight.

Is Woodland Heights Dangerous?

Why is the Woodland Watch Necessary?

Is Woodland Heights Dangerous?

The Woodland Heights Neighborhood only accounts for 2% of all Police Reports in the City of Springfield and only 1.7% of all Sex Offenders in Springfield reside in the Woodland Heights Neighborhood. Woodland Heights is a vibrant Historic Neighborhood, not a "North Side" stereotype.

How Can I Help?

Why is the Woodland Watch Necessary?

Is Woodland Heights Dangerous?

We're glad that you asked this question. You can help us by demanding the neighborhood that you deserve. Walk out your front door. Work in your yard. Walk in your park. Live fully in your neighborhood. If you can't enjoy your neighborhood, it's not your neighborhood. This neighborhood is your home. Blight can't have it. Crime can't have it. And if there are problems, we're all going to work together to fix them. Besides that — the most useful thing that you can do is to report what you see. If you see nuisance, if you see crime, if you see blight—report it. We'll tell you how below!

SGF Citizen Resource Center

The easiest way for you to make a report is by contacting the Citizen Resource Center. They will process your request and send it to the appropriate department. We find that often neighbors suffer in silence and don't make reports simply because they don't know who to make the report to. That's what the Citizen Resource Center is there for.

We think the best way to contact the Citizen Resource Center is by using the web based SeeClickFix Request Tracker or by downloading the City of Springfield App for Apple or Android.

You can also contact the Citizen Resource Center by calling 417-864-1010 or sending an email to city@springfieldmo.gov

SGF Neighborhood Tools

SGF Neighborhood Tools is here to help

Are you experiencing problems in your neighborhood? Or do you just need help finding information? Civic Resources can be difficult and confusing to navigate. Luckily, volunteers in the Woodland Heights Neighborhood have launched SGF Neighborhood Tools to help neighbors throughout the city.

Do you ever feel like you spend all of your time searching for the tools that you need? You know resources exist, you just can't find them when you need them? Neighborhood leaders and residents shouldn't have to spend all of their time searching for online resources.  That's what SGF Neighborhood Tools is here for.

Contact Your Neighborhood PAR Officer

Police Area Representative

The purpose of a PAR officer is to have a direct contact for citizens when dealing with neighborhood concerns and complaints.  PAR officers work varying schedules, which allows them to focus the necessary attention to neighborhood concerns and complaints.  PAR officers utilize criminal codes when possible to deal with neighborhood complaints or concerns, but also work with other City departments when those complaints or concerns can be addressed through other non-criminal City codes.

When PAR officers get involved in a neighborhood issue, their job is not to find fault or place blame, but to coordinate and facilitate efforts in hopes of solving the identified problem.

Our PAR Officer in Woodland Heights is Officer John Taylor. You may contact him by calling 417-864-1320 or by sending an email to john.taylor@springfieldmo.gov

And You Can Always Contact Us

We'll be happy to forward your concerns to the appropriate city department!
